Be a Pioneer Trek 2014

Connor here. Trek was an amazing experience. Before anyone asks, my favorite part of trek was the shower I took when I got home. Aside from that, I very much enjoyed playing the fiddle, which I did for the square dance Thursday night and the hymns on "Sunday" (Friday). I completely blew away Bishop Hendricks (the trail boss) when he learned I was playing all but one of the hymns by ear. It did teach me that you don't need to tell people about what you can do. Everyone knew I could play the violin, but only the Hendricks' knew I was playing by ear. I wasn't going to say anything, but during "Sacrament meeting" He told everyone that I was. It taught me that people will see you doing good things. You don't need to tell them, and it has more power when you don't.
Hello. It's Cailin. Trek was awesome, even if I didn't like dressing up like a pioneer and smelling completely awful and pushing the handcarts up hills. I don't know how heavy those things were, but it was really heavy and really hard to push them. I really liked the family that I had. My ma and pa were the Henshaw's. The square dance was fun, even if it was a bit crazy because we had a lot of people and everyone was really tired. But I thought it was a lot of fun. It was also a great spiritual experience for me. I never really realized how hard the pioneers had it. But now I do, and I have a great respect for what they did. I don't think I could have done it. They must have had super, super strong testimonies to get them through that.

Bishop Hendricks and his lovely wife Joyce are the trail bosses for trek.  He also happens to be  Ryan's bishop of the single's ward.

Barry was asked to be the Mormon Battalion Commander

The Mormon Battalion is heading out for war.....

And now the girls are on their own....

Brigham Young is welcoming these handcart pioneers to Zion!  You DID IT!!  You Did something amazing and HARD!!  As Cailin said in her testimony the Sunday after trek  "I learned I can do really hard things when God is with me."
