Spring time, Prom time

Connor's first dance date....with Katelee Averett.  Mormon Prom was held in Roanoke and all of our group had fun.  Sadly, the pictures from the dance were lost on Connor's cell phone.....so no pics of Cailin and the rest of the crew.

Cailin attended the Home school 18th Century Ball again this year.  here she is posing with Lindsey

Elite School of Dance--Spring Recital

It's Cailin. The dance recital was very fun. I took Musical Theater this year, and we did songs from Hairspray and Grease. It was great getting to dance and getting to know the people that were in my class, and it was a super fun thing to do. I'm definitely going to be doing more classes next year.

Delaney enjoyed a ballet, tap, jazz class and clogging class.

My beautiful beauties....after the show!

It's a Spring time Spruce up!

Clearing the garden....the bon fire is so fun!!

Planting flowers on the porch.  If only we could convince Brianne to keep the dirt in the pot!
This year we added two more blueberry bushes, one peach tree and some blackberry vines (that we got from our friends the Birds.)  We also added a flock of chickens our mini-wanna-be-homestead-in the suburbs.

At Appomatox Court House in Virginia

While we were in the Lynchburg area for Barry's graduation we took a short trip to Appomattox Court (which is the name of the town, not the actually court house) where General Robert E, Lee surrendered to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant thus officially ending the Civil War in 1865

We had a great time exploring the area and enjoying time with each other.

Graduation Day!!!! A Master's Degree from Liberty University

It's been a long, hard road, but the time for celebration has come!!!  Yea Barry has graduated with his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration!  What a joyous day.  (he actually has two more classes to finish to get his diploma, but this celebration is hard won and earned and he wanted to "walk" during the year he would actually receive the degree.)
Thank-you Liberty University for a wonderful time!

Science Fun-- Butterflies, Butterflies, Butterflies!!

Oh how we love Latter-day Learning!!  Our science lessons this year are based on Kingdom Anemalia.  We've been studying about birds, fish, mammals, reptiles and amphibians....and of course insects!!  We finally found a "science kit" that actually worked for us!! Quite sad, as no ant farm, preying mantis, incubating chickens or other such projects have worked well for us, but this one did and we're thrilled and happy with the results!!
Brianne got a bit rough one day and three of the chrysalis' fell off.  No worries though, all 5 caterpillars hatched.
We found this to be the best place for the incubating butterflies to stay for the 10 day transformation period.

They all hatched on the same day....with in a few hours of each other. Lucky for us they waited until we were home from Daddy's graduation at LU....they should have come a day earlier, but they must have know we weren't there to watch the grand opening!
A few days later after we enjoyed watching them, we let them GO!  All but one were fully formed and healthy.  One of them had a deformed wing, which we kept a bit longer but keeping him as a pet wasn't practical so we found a safe place for him to explore and have plenty of flowers for food.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for a wonderful science project!!
