Tomorrow morning Delaney will be giving her first talk in Sacrament meeting as a youth speaker. She is quite nervous and really hoping she'll get sick between now and then, but I'm sure she'll do just fine!
Topic: Choice and Accountability
Joshua 24:15 - “And if it seem evil unto you to serve
the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods
which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood,
or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell; but as for me
and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Heavenly Father put us down on this earth to choose, to
use our agency to follow Him and keep His commandments. For the
Strength of Youth says, “Next to the bestowal of life itself the
right to direct your life is one of God's greatest gifts to you.
While here on earth, you are being proven to see if you will use your
agency to show your love -------> For God by keeping his
commandments.”
We are responsible for the choices we make.
Consequences are a natural result of actions. The Merriam-Webster
English Dictionary defines consequences as: “something that happens
as a result of a particular action or set of conditions.”
Consequences are not always negative. A consequence of saying our
prayers could be peace or an increase in the Spirit.
Often, making the right choice is the most difficult
one to make. This sometimes will make us feel very alone, but we are
never alone when we do the right thing. God is with us.
Thomas S. Monson said, “Dare to be a Mormon. Dare to
Stand alone. Dare to have a purpose firm. Dare to make it known.”
We may seem to be standing completely alone, but our actions inspire
others to stand up for what is right with us.
