For Family Home Evening, one night we joined other LDS homeschoolers for a night of song, story and activity time....we made gingerbread (actually graham cracker) nativity scenes. Lots of colorful icing, many topping choices....ahhhh, the kids were in heaven. (they had raisins, popcorn, animal crackers, cheerios, rice chex, coconut, and pretzels to decorate with).
| Can you see Baby Jesus...he's in the front with a raisin eye. |
Ever creative, (especially with legos), Connor was AWOL when they were handing out the graham crackers. Ahhhh, but never fear, he took the left over broken bits and created a magnificent sculpture...rather reminiscent of a derelict stable...but he had fun none the less.
Cailin really got into the fun...but it came to an alarmingly crashing halt when the stable gave way and crumbled. So sad....but still so good to eat!!
Before we took a break from school work we spent a week reading different versions of "The Gingerbread Man" and, of course, we made some gingerbread men of our own. We made a few other goodies. Creating yummy food is a must at Christmas time.
Gathering with friends at the hospital, to bring the residents of the long term skilled nursing unit joy and happiness is another must! We sang songs, Delaney, Liam, Cailin, the Mattson kids, along with the Brame girls sang a primary Christmas song. Cailin played her flute. Creating musical joy!
Oh, I LOVE it!!! Look at that budding artist Brianne!!
ReplyDeleteCailin's thumbs down cracks me up. It may not have been sturdy...but delicious beats sturdy any day in my book.
Please tell Barry that I like Connor's Virginia shirt...but it is missing the word, "Tech" under the, "Virginia".
Oh...and it is supposed to be orange and maroon, too...otherwise it is lovely!
