5K....here we come!

Okay, so I mentioned to my sister in law that I would like to one day run a 5K....I kinda forgot that this dear sister of mine loves to run....not like or runs occasionally, this girl eats breathes and LOVES to run!  She's run multiple marathons and half-marathons before she married....and since then too.

So the next week she called me up and told me that she just signed herself and my brother, (her dear husband--he only runs for her, he's not a runner--now that's true love!) up for a half marathon and this particular one had a 5K attached...she asked "Do you want to sign up for it?"  "Ummmm, yeah!!  I do!!"  I really do.  I'm super excited.  I've run a few other times in my life.  Once in college I had a friend and roommates, and we would run most nights up and down the streets of Rexburg, Idaho.  Then again, when Barry and I were first married and we were living Germany I would run the hilly streets of our neighborhood there as Barry was working....but since then, not so much.

So, here I am, 20+ years later and I'm lacing up the shoes again and getting up early in the morning to run 3 times a week.  I'm following the "Couch Potato to 5K" program that Risa has sent me.  I'm up to 2.5 miles, of which I run 1/3 to 1/2 of it.  The race is in September, I think by then I will be able to run the entire 3.1 miles.  That's my goal...to run the entire thing without stopping.  I'm also super excited that Barry will join me.  He won't be able to run due to his knee problems, but he's training to walk it (and push Brianne in a stroller).

I have a super coach...Cailin's tough, albeit a bit pushy from time to time. ;)   Connor's joining us too, he's working on his fitness merit badge for scouts and has a few goals in mind to conquer.   So we'll see how it goes...till then I'm looking forward to having a bit of early morning time with two of my adventurous kids....AND hopefully loosing some of this baby fat...yes Brianne is 2.5, but I'm still calling it baby fat!...and getting back into the groove of running, which I did enjoy way back when....and I think I'll come to like it once again.
