Cherry Jam

The kids were sure we were breaking some sort of child labor law, that or we found an new form of cruel and unusual punishment.   We assured them that working as a family to de-pit the cherries were neither of these claims.....and they may as well put on a happy face and just do the work, because.....no amount of complaining was going to get them out of it!!

Afterwards the older ones cheerfully went off to do some mowing and Delaney, Liam and I made some much needed jam.  We had been out of it for about two months and the kids were tired of honey and peanut butter sandwiches or plain butter toast.  We made cherry, grape and strawberry-rhurbarb jam over the next few days.

Now these two were happy, helpful, non-complaining helpers.
Apparently, something sparked that creative domestic side in Delaney.  She proceeded to pull out a stitchery project she started months ago when we did a unit on Colonial times and finish it. She's definitely my girl....she likes all things homey and creative.
