It's almost July and my peas are still growing and growing....I do believe this year will be the year of the Sugar Snap Peas!!!
We don't get many of these yummy pods in the freezer. Liam and Brianne eat them straight from the garden....dirt and all.
Corn, pumpkins and winter squash. I also planted: sweet potatoes, onions, kale, swiss chard, watermelon, cantaloupe, eggplant, a variety of sweet and hot peppers, tomatillos, tomatoes--for canning and small cherry and pear ones. A variety of summer squash, cucumbers, sunflowers, red and white potatoes and of course blue lake green beans. Today as I was working in the garden I had an aaahaa moment of what to do with some areas between two of the larger garden boxes. I plan to work on them and well see if my idea works....you'll find out later when I blog about it.
It's not a very pretty garden this year, but after Barry is done with his project of outlining the garden areas with these salvaged boards it should look much better. I also want to get rid of all grass in the walking paths, wood chips, pine needles will do the trick.
I got so busy with other things lately that I let the asparagus go to seed.
Hello Mr. Prying Mantis....I can't wait till you get bigger. Hopefully this little guy will find all the food he needs in my garden--because it's there!--and will stay around for a while.
This year I planted more asparagus and rhubarb. They are coming on strong.
Basil,
Summer squash,
Peppers,
Green beans....oh my, if they all produce well, we'll have a full freezer for winter!
Such a fantastic garden!!! I love it. Ours is coming along...we have a problem with several family members craving tomatos...they haven't gotten a chance to get fully red before we devour them. I told Evan that we should try to display some self control and let them fully ripen ;)
ReplyDeleteI love that Liam and Brianne eat the sugar snap peas straight from the garden. That is nature's fast food!! :)
