For it must needs be , that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my first-born
in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither
wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all
things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body
it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption
nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibilitly.
2 Nephi 2:11
......This is the answer I gave Delaney as she was doubling over in pain, crying "why do I have to be sick? It hurts so much!" from the stomach bug that was attacked our family this past week. Honestly it's all I could think of....that, after all our wonderful fun at Great Wolf Lodge, we can better appreciate it (the fun), and better appreciate our health-- because we are a fairly healthy family. I could have said, 'I don't know", or "that's just the way it is", but I think this was a learning moment. I pray for these, so I hope I got it right this time....plus I gave her a hug, because what she really wanted was sympathy in her time of need....and I didn't get out the scriptures, just a hug and a reminder.
So, we had fun on Monday and Tuesday at GWL in Williamsburg......had everyone get sick from Tuesday's ride home, when Liam started spewing, to Sunday, when we were all feeling well enough so we could go to the special stake conference meeting where Bishop Causse' 1st counselor of the General Bishopric was speaking.
I got sick Friday and missed the planned trip to Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson, on Saturday. I was not happy about it, but I did have some great sleeping time, and very glad that I decided to stay home. Thankfully, Delaney, Cailin and Connor were over the three day bug and well enough to go.
So, by Sunday we were all fairly well better and Beulah planned for a wonderful picnic lunch for after conference, but alas, opposition came in the form of rain and cold wind, so the picnic was indoors. I was so grateful for her making the meal.
We are all well again and back in the daily routines of life...and all with a great appreciation for our healthy bodies.
